Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Nerelerde Kullanılır :
1. Geçmişte anılan, zamanda henüz tamamlanmış veya devam etmekte olan eylemleri anlatırken.
Past Perfect Continuous Tense tek başına kullanılmaz, yan cümlecik olarak Simple Past Tense ten yararlanılır.

The babies had been playing by themselves for an hour.
(Henüz tamamlanmış veya devam etmekte olan eylem.)

(geçmişte anılsın zaman.)
(Anneleri geldiğinde bebekler bir saattir kendi kendilerine oynuyorlarmış.)

I had been cooking all morning when you rang me up.

2. Geçmişte olmuş, gene geçmişteki anılan zamanda belirtileri - izleri - görülen eylemler anlatılırken.
